The
leader of the Maximal in the Beast Wars.
He
has been through three phases and ended the Beast Wars
in the
body of Optimal Optimus
when he combined his and Optimus
Prime's spark. He is brave and although young,
very wise in his decisions.
Optimus
was originally the captain of en exploration vessel -
the Axalon. However, when he crashed on Earth
and had Predacons to face, he had to lead his crew
into battle and make some very difficult decisions he
never thought he'd have to make. Optimus has not
only proved a formidable fighter, but a good leader
too. He is a true Maximal with morals and
beliefs and his strength passes onto his crew who, for
the most part, remain loyal to him. A formidable
adversary to Megatron.
Cheetor
The
youngest fighter of the Maximals. With the form
of a cheetah, he is fast and stealthy.
Cheetor went through three phases ending the series
in his Transmetal Two mode.
Like
a son to Optimus, he is forever trying to prove
himself but gradually matures through the episodes.
At
times he's been clumsy but he's a good fighter who is
learning all the time.
An
altogether loveable character, Cheetor has made his
mark in the Beast Wars
and
later went on to help lead the Maximals in Beast
Machines.
Rattrap
Full
of wise-crack comments and pessimistic jokes Rattrap,
the Axalon's technician and spy adds
a
sense of humour to the Beast Wars. This tough
little street fighter is highly skilled and his
weapons include a gun,
bombs and in his Transmetal mode, a tail spear.
Rattrap was perhaps most loved for his squabbles with
the ex-Predacon Dinobot who joined the Maximal ranks
early in the Beast Wars. Although the two are
constantly fighting (most verbally) it is a love-hate
relationship and in a strange way, the two are
friends. Rattrap can be a brilliant fighter when
the moment calls and has helped the Maximals out time
and time again with his technical knowledge.
Also not to be underestimated as he's proved himself
a valuable warrior.
Rhinox
Rhinox
is the scientist and medic onboard the Axalon. A
good natured guy whose
skills
have played a vital part in the Beast Wars. He
remained in the same form
throughout
the Beast Wars and has the form of a Rhinoceros.
He
spends most of his time in the Axalon doing important
research. When anything strange crops up, all
the Maximals turn to Rhinox for answers.
But
don't underestimate
him.
With two powerful chain guns he's not someone a
Predacon wants to bump into on a dark night...
Dinobot
Dinobot
arrived on Earth as a Predacon, but thinking
Megatron
had taken them all to the wrong planet,
he
left the Predacons and challenged Optimus Primal for
leadership over the Maximals. The duel was
interrupted by Megatron and
Dinobot afterwards realised Optimus was a skilled
leader and joined his troops.
Although he never got
really
close to any of the Maximals, a love-hate relationship
developed
between him and Rattrap and although neither
would
admit it, the two had become friends.
He
is perhaps the most complex character in the Beast
Wars which made him interesting to watch and he is a
general favourite among fans of the TV show.
Dinobot
served loyally and single-handedly saved the human
race from Megatron, tragically losing his life while
doing so in season two 'Code of Hero'.
Airazor
Airazor
was the only female Maximal. (Except for Blackarachnia
who joined much later). She joined the Maximals
via a stasis pod and took the
form
of a falcon. Her weapons included wrist
missiles. Airazor grew close with Maximal
Tigatron and the two were
abducted
by the Aliens hand in hand. But the Maximals
hadn't seen the last of their brave warrior. She
came back later fused
with
Tigatron as Tigerhawk.
Tigatron
Gentle
and good natured, Tigatron joined the Maximals in the
first season. Caring towards the environment he
chooses
to
patrol most of his time and likes to be outside the
cold, metal confines of the base. With a
powerful freeze gun Tigatron is no softy when
it
comes to fighting Predacons and protecting the
wilderness, although he prefers not to fight.
Tigatron shared the same fate as Airazor and was
abducted to later come back as Tigerhawk.
Silverbolt
Brave,
noble and polite to the ladies, Silverbolt is a true
Maximal in every sense of the word! Silverbolt
is a special kind of transformer known as a fuzor,
which means he had two modes fuzed together - a wolf
and an eagle. His main weapon are his missile
feathers that he throws at his enemies with
devastating results.
The
fuzor joined the Maximal ranks in Season two after
leaving the Predacons shortly after
his
birth from a stasis pod. He is very loyal but
soon develops affections for Predacon
Blackarachnia.
Much to his delight, she joins the Maximals in the
third season and a growing romance
occurs
between them.
Blackarachnia
Blackarachnia
left the Predacons at the beginning of the third
season, mainly because she didn't trust Megatron
anymore and vice versa and
because
she wanted to join Silverbolt who she had grown close
to. She is a skilled scientist and stealth
fighter and because of a failed TM2
operation
she tried to perform on herself, she had to be
reprogrammed as a Maximal. She became TM2 and
stayed this way until the end on the Beast Wars.
One of her weapons in her TM2 was telekinetic powers
and she is also very good at drop-kicking and beating
up her enemies even without weapons!!
Depth
Charge
A
hardy, brusque character whose star hopper
crashed
on earth during his mission to look for
Protoform
X (Rampage). He was on a mission of revenge
after
'X' leveled his colony on Omicron. During the
Beast Wars he is constantly after Rampage
causing Optimus many difficulties. Eventually he is
persuaded to join the Maximals and he proves a
very strong fighter. His weapons include a gun
which becomes a scanner underwater - it looks like a
miniature shark. He also shoots circular laser
blasts from his chest in robot mode and from his mouth
in his magnificent manta ray mode. He has a
flight mode and is the only Maximal that can go
underwater. He died while killing Rampage in the
episode "Nemesis." Although sad, it
was good to see that Depth Charge finally brought
about the justice he had been seeking for so long
